  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup vanilla custard (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup crushed nuts (such as walnuts or pistachios)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients. Ensure the butter is melted and the nuts are finely crushed.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Baking Phyllo

  • Unroll the phyllo pastry sheets and layer several sheets on your baking tray, brushing each layer generously with melted butter.
  • Cut the layered phyllo sheets into squares. Bake them in the preheated oven for about 8-10 minutes until golden and flaky.
  • Allow the phyllo squares to cool on the tray.

Assembly

  • Take one phyllo square and spread a generous layer of vanilla custard on top. Place another square on top to create a sandwich. Repeat until all squares are used.
  • Drizzle honey over each cookie.
  • Sprinkle crushed nuts over the honey.
  • Dust the cookies with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. For freezing, layer them with parchment paper and freeze for up to three months.
