Main Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, cream together the brown sugar, granulated sugar, and softened butter until smooth and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
  • Add the egg and vanilla extract, beating again until fully combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring just until combined. Do not overmix.
  • Using a cookie scoop, portion out dough balls onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each one.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers remain soft.
  • Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For extra flavor, sprinkle a little sea salt on top before baking. Add-ins like chocolate chips, nuts, or spices (such as cinnamon or nutmeg) can enhance the taste. Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 7 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
