Ingrédients
  

Heart Shaped Cookies

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg room temperature
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • pink or red food coloring optional
  • icing or sprinkles for decorating

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until combined.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients until a dough forms. Add food coloring if desired.
  • Wrap dough and chill for 30 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Roll dough and cut into heart shapes.
  • Place cookies on a lined baking sheet and bake for 8–10 minutes until edges are set.
  • Cool completely before decorating with icing or sprinkles.

Notes

For softer cookies, avoid overbaking. These cookies also freeze well after baking.
