Main ingredients

  • 16 oz Pillsbury Grands! Buttermilk Biscuits, cut into pieces
  • 1 lb Jimmy Dean Pork Sausage, browned and drained of excess grease
  • 3 cups frozen Ore-Ida Shredded Hash Browns
  • 1 packet McCormick Gravy Mix, Sausage Flavor (2.75 oz)
  • 2 cups milk (for preparing the gravy)
  • 1.5 cups shredded cheddar cheese (any variety)
  • 0.5 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper (a pinch)
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt, or as needed

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. Cut the biscuits into quarters, brown the sausage in a skillet over medium heat, and ensure any excess grease is removed.

Cooking the Base

  • In the same skillet used for the sausage, prepare the frozen hash browns. Spread them evenly in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish.

Layering

  • Layer the cooked and drained sausage evenly over the hash browns.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the gravy with the 2 cups of milk until smooth. Pour the gravy mixture over the layers.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly across the top.
  • Place the quartered biscuits on top of the dish and sprinkle garlic powder, salt, and black pepper over everything.

Baking

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F (190°C) for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  • Let the dish rest for about 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For variations, consider using turkey sausage or a vegetarian option. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for 3-4 days or freeze for 2-3 months.
