For the Cookie Dough

  • 1 cup Butter, softened to Room Temperature (Sweet Cream, Salted) Ensure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 Large Eggs
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 3/4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Bag Nestle Toll House Chocolate Chips Feel free to substitute with other types of chocolate chips.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and allow the butter to reach room temperature.
  • Prepare your baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.

Making the Dough

  • In a stand mixer, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the two large eggs and the vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated and fluffy, about 1 minute.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients in the mixer, combining until smooth.

Coloring the Dough

  • Divide the dough into three equal portions.
  • Add orange food coloring to one-third, brown food coloring to another third, and leave the last third uncolored. Knead until colors are incorporated.

Finishing Touches

  • Fold the chocolate chips into each portion of dough.
  • Roll equal amounts of orange, brown, and white dough into 2 oz balls and slightly press them down on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Preheat oven to 375°F and bake cookies for 8-10 minutes or until edges are golden brown.

Cooling

  • Remove cookies from the oven and let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For a twist, add nuts, spices, or dried fruit. Store cookies in an airtight container; add a slice of bread to retain moisture.
