  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound ground pork sausage
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 loaf rye bread
  • to taste Chopped parsley for garnish (optional)

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients, and chop the parsley if using for garnish.
  • Heat a skillet over medium heat, add ground beef and pork sausage, and cook until browned (10-12 minutes). Drain excess fat.
  • Lower heat to medium-low, add cream cheese and shredded cheddar, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic powder. Stir until melted and creamy (3-5 minutes).
  • Slice rye bread into 1/2 inch thick pieces.
  • Spread the meat-cheese mixture generously on each slice of rye bread.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place each slice evenly on it.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 15 minutes until golden brown and bubbling.
  • Cool slightly before garnishing with chopped parsley and serve hot.

Notes

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days. For freezing, wrap individually and store in a freezer-safe bag.
