Ingrédients

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • to taste salt and pepper
  • 8 ounces egg noodles

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all ingredients and chop the onion, garlic, and mushrooms.

Cook the Base

  • In a large skillet, heat a bit of oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef, breaking it apart as it cooks until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

Add Aromatics

  • Stir in the chopped onions and minced garlic. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onions become translucent.

Incorporate Mushrooms

  • Add sliced mushrooms and cook for another 5 minutes until tender.

Create the Sauce

  • Pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, and bring to a gentle simmer for about 5 minutes.

Make a Slurry

  • Mix flour with a few tablespoons of water to create a slurry, then slowly pour into the skillet while stirring. Simmer until sauce has thickened.

Finish with Sour Cream

  • Lower heat and fold in sour cream, stirring until fully combined. Heat through but do not boil.

Serve with Egg Noodles

  • Cook egg noodles according to package instructions. Drain and serve Stroganoff sauce over noodles.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Reheat on low heat with a splash of broth or water.
