  • 1 whole whole turkey (about 12-14 pounds) Ensure it is thawed if previously frozen.
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted Can substitute with vegan butter for dairy-free.
  • 1 cup chicken broth Vegetable broth can be used for a vegetarian version.
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 1 tablespoon dried rosemary

For the Stuffing

  • 2 cups stuffing (your choice) Gluten-free stuffing options available.

For the Vegetables

  • 2 cups fresh vegetables (carrots, celery, onions) Customize based on preference.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Remove giblets from turkey cavity, rinse under cold water, and pat dry.
  • Season the turkey inside and out with salt, black pepper, thyme, and rosemary.

Stuffing and Roasting

  • Stuff the turkey with your chosen stuffing and tie the legs together with kitchen twine.
  • Brush the turkey skin with melted butter and place in a roasting pan.
  • Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.
  • Cover the turkey loosely with aluminum foil and roast for 3 to 4 hours, basting occasionally.
  • Remove foil for the last hour of cooking to allow the skin to brown.

Final Steps

  • Check the internal temperature; it should reach 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part of the meat.
  • Let the turkey rest for at least 20 minutes before carving and serving with fresh vegetables.

Notes

For variations, consider adding different herbs or spices and serving with traditional sides like mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, or cranberry sauce.
