Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients together.

Making Cheese Straws

  • Mix the grated cheese, flour, cayenne pepper, and garlic powder in a large bowl. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Add a small amount of water if needed to bring the dough together. Roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut into strips or use a cookie cutter for fun shapes.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the cheese straws on a baking sheet, brush them with the beaten egg, and bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown.

Making Stuffed Mushrooms

  • Blend the soft cream cheese, fresh herbs, and grated parmesan cheese in a mixing bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Spoon the mixture into the hollowed mushroom caps, filling them generously.
  • Arrange the filled mushrooms on a baking sheet and bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 20 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.

Preparing Dips and Plating

  • While the appetizers are baking, prepare any dips you plan to serve such as guacamole, hummus, or salsa.
  • Once everything is baked, arrange the cheese straws and stuffed mushrooms on a large platter with bowls of dips and a selection of finger foods like crackers or vegetable sticks.

Serving

  • Invite your guests to enjoy the delicious variety of easy Thanksgiving appetizers you’ve created.

Notes

Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-5 days. For reheating, place in an oven preheated to 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes until warmed through.
