Preparation

Baking the Cake

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour your cake pan.
  • In a small saucepan, bring the milk to a simmer. Stir in the Earl Grey tea leaves and let it steep for about 5 minutes. Strain and allow to cool.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
  • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  • Stir in the cooled milk infused with Earl Grey tea leaves.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.

Frosting
