Preparation

  • Gather and measure all ingredients. Chop garlic and decide on your protein choice.

Cooking the Pasta

  • Boil water in a large pot and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve a cup of pasta water before draining.

Cooking the Sauce

  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Sauté minced garlic until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
  • Pour in the heavy cream and let it simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring continuously.
  • Add your chosen protein and cook until fully cooked (5-7 minutes for shrimp, 10-15 minutes for chicken).

Combine and Finish

  • Add the drained pasta to the sauce. If it's too thick, mix in reserved pasta water until desired creaminess is achieved.
  • Gradually mix in grated Parmesan cheese until fully combined. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
