Preparation

  • Gather all the ingredients and tools needed for the cake. Grease a 9-inch round cake pan thoroughly.

Making the Base

  • Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Stir in the brown sugar until it dissolves to create a caramel-like mixture. Pour this evenly into the prepared cake pan.
  • Arrange the sliced pears over the melted sugar mixture in a decorative pattern.

Mixing the Batter

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, almond meal, baking powder, and salt.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs lightly and add the vanilla and almond extracts.
