Main Ingredients

  • 3 pounds beef chuck roast Can substitute with brisket or round roast.
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce Choose your favorite brand or use homemade.
  • 1 each onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Preparation

  • Season the beef chuck roast generously with salt and black pepper.
  • Slice the onion and mince the garlic.

Cooking

  • Place the sliced onions and minced garlic at the bottom of the crockpot.
  • Lay the seasoned beef chuck roast on top.
  • Pour the barbecue sauce and Worcestershire sauce over the beef.
  • Cover the crockpot and set to cook on low for 8 hours.
  • After 8 hours, check the beef for tenderness, and if necessary, continue cooking for an additional hour.
  • Once tender, remove the beef from the crockpot and shred it with two forks.
  • Return the shredded beef to the crockpot and mix well with the sauce.
  • Allow the beef to sit in the sauce for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Pair with coleslaw, potato salad, or baked beans. Can be served on buns, over rice, or mashed potatoes. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.
