Main Ingredients

  • 2 slices sourdough bread
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened for spreading
  • 2 ounces cream cheese, softened for spreading
  • 0.5 cup shredded mozzarella cheese for filling
  • 0.25 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese for filling
  • 2 tablespoons blueberry preserves for sweetness

Instructions

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients and ensure that your butter and cream cheese are at room temperature for easy spreading.
  • Take your sourdough slices and butter one side of each slice evenly.
  • Flip the bread slices over and spread a generous layer of cream cheese on the unbuttered sides.
  • Spoon the blueberry preserves over the cream cheese layer on one slice.
  • Layer shredded mozzarella and sharp cheddar on top of the preserves.
  • Assemble the sandwich by placing the unbuttered side of the second slice on top of the cheese layer.

Cooking

  • Place the assembled sandwich in a preheated skillet over medium heat and cook for about 3 to 4 minutes on one side.
  • Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side for another 3 to 4 minutes, pressing down gently to ensure even cooking.
  • Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it rest briefly on a cutting board.

Serving

  • Slice the Crispy Blueberry Grilled Cheese diagonally and serve warm.

Notes

To enhance flavor, sprinkle a hint of cinnamon over the blueberries before grilling. A cast iron skillet can achieve an extra crispy result.
