Preparation

  • Start by rinsing the fresh green beans under cold water. Trim the ends and cut them into equal lengths for even cooking.
  • In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add in the trimmed green beans and blanch them for about 5 minutes. Drain the beans and transfer them to a large bowl.

Mix the Sauce

  • In a separate bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, and season with salt and pepper. Whisk until smooth.

Combine Ingredients

  • Pour the soup mixture over the blanched green beans in the bowl. Gently stir to combine.

Prepare for Baking

  • Take a greased baking dish and pour the green bean mixture into it, spreading it evenly.
  • Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese on top, followed by a layer of French fried onions.

Bake

  • Place the baking dish in your preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until hot and bubbly.

  • Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.
