  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

For the Filling

  • 1 cup fresh cranberries
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. Pre-measure everything to streamline the process. Ensure the butter is softened for easy mixing.
  • In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, powdered sugar, and salt. Add the softened butter and mix it until the texture becomes crumbly. This forms the base for your tart.
  • Take the crumbly mixture and press it evenly into a tart pan. Make sure the crust is uniform in thickness for even baking.

Baking

  • Put the tart crust in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and bake for about 15 minutes until golden.
  • While the crust is baking, prepare the filling by mixing the fresh cranberries with granulated sugar, orange juice, and orange zest.
  • In another bowl, whisk the two large eggs and vanilla extract, then combine with the cranberry mixture.
  • After removing the crust from the oven, carefully pour the filling into it and make sure it is evenly distributed.
  • Put the tart back in the oven and bake for an additional 25-30 minutes until the filling is set and golden.

Cooling

  • Allow the tart to cool before serving. This helps the filling firm up for easier slicing.

Notes

For extra flavor, serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store in the refrigerator to keep fresh for up to 3-4 days. This tart can also be frozen for later enjoyment, just remember to wrap it well before freezing.
