  • 1 cup orange juice Freshly squeezed is best for a refreshing zest.
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion Can substitute with shallots for milder flavor.

  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves Brings depth of flavor.
  • 1/2 cup raisins Optional for added sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest Adds a bright finish to the chutney.

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients. Rinse and sort cranberries, discarding any soft or bruised ones. Chop the onion finely.

Cooking

  • In a medium saucepan, combine cranberries, sugar, and orange juice over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
  • Once the mixture comes to a boil, watch for the cranberries to pop.
  • After 5-7 minutes of boiling, add the chopped onion, ground cinnamon, ground ginger, and ground cloves. Stir to combine.
  • Lower the heat and let it simmer for another 10-15 minutes until it thickens.
  • Stir in optional raisins and lemon zest, cooking for an additional few minutes.
  • Check the consistency; it should be thick and jam-like. If too runny, simmer longer.
  • Remove from heat and allow the chutney to cool before serving or storing.

Serving

  • Transfer to a sterilized jar for storage or serve immediately as a condiment.
  • Can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
