Instructions

Preparation

  • Rinse cranberries thoroughly to remove impurities. Peel, core, and chop apples into manageable pieces.

Cooking the Base

  • In a large pot, combine cranberries, chopped apples, sugar, and apple cider. Cook over medium heat, stirring until cranberries begin to burst, about 10 minutes.

Adding Spices

  • Once the mixture has softened, add cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir well to ensure even distribution.

Simmering

  • Let the mixture simmer for approximately 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to achieve a thick, spreadable consistency.

Blending

  • Blend the mixture until smooth using an immersion blender or a traditional blender. Return to the pot.

Final Cooking

  • Simmer for an additional 5-10 minutes if a thicker texture is desired, stirring frequently.

Jarring

  • Carefully pour the hot mixture into sterilized jars, leaving some space at the top for expansion.

Cooling

  • Allow jars to cool at room temperature before sealing with lids.

Notes

Store in airtight jars in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. It can also be frozen for longer storage. Always use fresh ingredients for the best flavor.
