Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients: chicken breasts, barbecue sauce, cooked bacon, cheddar cheese, and seasonings.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Season both sides of the chicken breasts generously with salt and pepper.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the seasoned chicken breasts and sear for 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  • Transfer the seared chicken breasts to a baking dish.
  • Brush each chicken breast generously with smoky barbecue sauce.
  • Crumble the cooked bacon into bite-sized pieces and layer it over each chicken breast.
  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the bacon.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C) internally.
  • Remove from the oven and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Variation ideas include using turkey bacon or cauliflower for a healthier alternative. Storing leftovers in an airtight container keeps them fresh for 3-4 days.
