Dip Base Ingredients

  • 1 loaf cob loaf Hollowed out for serving the dip.
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or blend)
  • 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon (optional) Omit for a vegetarian version.
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Hollow out the cob loaf by slicing off the top and scooping out the insides, reserving the scooped-out bread.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese and sour cream. Blend until smooth.
  • Mix in the shredded cheese, garlic powder, chopped green onions, and bacon. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Spoon the mixture into the hollowed cob loaf, filling it generously.

Baking

  • Place the filled cob loaf on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until hot and bubbly.

Serving

  • Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy with reserved bread pieces and additional dipping items.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free bread. You can customize the dip by adding or substituting ingredients based on taste and dietary preferences.
