Preparation

  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  • Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until thoroughly combined.
  • Gradually blend in the dry ingredients until combined, being careful not to overmix.
  • Using rounded teaspoonfuls of dough, roll them into balls and place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Flatten each ball with the bottom of a glass.

Baking

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden.
  • Transfer the cookies to wire racks to cool completely.
  • Decorate with icing and sprinkles if desired.

Notes

Ensure butter is softened but cool to avoid flat cookies. You can alter flavors by adding zest or adjusting sweetness according to your preference.
