Preparation

  • Start by gathering all your ingredients. Make sure your butter is softened to room temperature for easy creaming with the sugars.
  • In a large mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and powdered sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 3–5 minutes.
  • Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until thoroughly combined.
  • Gradually mix in the all-purpose flour and salt until a soft, smooth dough forms, being careful not to overmix.
  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Fill your cookie press according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  • Press out your cookies in various shapes on ungreased baking sheets, spacing them about an inch apart.
  • Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  • Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week. They freeze well for up to 3 months. Reheat at 300°F for about 5 minutes if desired.
