Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients.
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Pour in vanilla extract.
  • In another bowl, mix the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually fold this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until well blended.
  • Stir in chocolate chips and chopped pecans.

Baking

  • Spread half of the dough evenly into a greased baking pan.
  • Drizzle caramel sauce over the first dough layer.
  • Spread the remaining dough over the caramel sauce.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and set.
  • Allow to cool before cutting into squares.

Notes

To enhance flavor, consider adding a pinch of sea salt to the caramel. Customize with different nuts if desired, or use a vegan butter alternative to make it plant-based.
