Cheesy Tater Tot Casserole

Creamy Mixture
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz) Can be replaced with a dairy-free version.
- 1 cup sour cream Use a dairy-free alternative if needed.
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Cheesy Layer
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
Tater Tot Layer
- 1 bag frozen tater tots (32 oz) Ensure they are gluten-free if needed.
Instructions
Preparation
- Gather all ingredients and chop the onion and mince the garlic.
Cooking the Base
- In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for an additional 3 minutes until the onion is translucent.
- Drain any excess fat from the skillet.
Mixing Ingredients
- Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for about 2 minutes.
Assembling the Casserole
- Spread the beef mixture evenly into a greased 9x13 baking dish.
- Sprinkle half of the shredded cheddar cheese over the meat mixture.
- Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer over the cheese.
Baking
- Place the casserole in a preheated oven at 375°F and bake for 35-40 minutes until the tater tots are golden brown.
- Sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top and return to the oven for an additional 5 minutes.
Serving
- Allow the casserole to sit for about 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a twist, add chopped bell peppers or use a mix of different cheeses. Excellent for leftovers, and can be refrigerated or frozen.
