Dough and Seasoning

  • 1 pound pizza dough Store-bought or homemade
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted For brushing on top
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese For topping the breadsticks
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese For topping the breadsticks
  • 1 dash all-purpose flour For dusting

Dipping Sauce

  • 1 cup marinara sauce For dipping

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients and preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Remove the pizza dough from packaging and let it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  • Dust a clean work surface with all-purpose flour.
  • Divide the dough into 10 equal pieces.

Shaping and Baking

  • Roll each piece of dough into an 8-inch long rope, making the ends thicker to resemble bones.
  • Snip each end of the rope about 1 inch deep and gently pull apart the snipped edges.
  • Place the shaped breadsticks on the lined baking sheets with enough space between them.
  • Brush each breadstick with melted butter and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
  • Bake in the oven for 15 minutes until they start to puff and are light golden.
  • Remove from oven, sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese, and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until melted.
  • Let them cool slightly before serving with marinara sauce.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. To reheat, bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes. Can freeze baked breadsticks for up to 2 months.
