  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Peel and thinly slice the potatoes to 1/8-inch rounds.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish.
  • In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

Layering

  • Pour half of the cream mixture over the layer of potatoes.
  • Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the creamy layer.
  • Layer the remaining sliced potatoes on top and pour the remaining cream mixture over them.
  • Top with the remaining shredded cheese and dot with butter.

Baking

  • Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  • Let the dish cool before garnishing with fresh herbs.

Notes

For added flavor, consider incorporating cooked bacon or vegetables in the layers. This dish is versatile and can accommodate various dietary needs.
