  • 1 cup whole milk Almond or oat milk can be used for a dairy-free option.
  • ½ cup vegetable oil A plant-based oil can be used.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water This helps keep the cake moist.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

Mix Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  • Add the eggs, whole milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix until smooth.
  • Carefully stir in the boiling water until mixed thoroughly.

Bake the Cake

  • Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
  • Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before turning them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting and Serving

  • Once the cakes are cooled, frost with your favorite frosting (e.g., chocolate ganache, buttercream).
  • Decorate as desired and serve.
