Ingrédients

For the Filling

  • 8 ounces shrimp, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives, finely chopped
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese or Gruyère cheese
  • Salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 large egg for egg wash
  • Additional fresh chives or parsley, for garnish

For the Croissants

  • 4 large croissants

Instructions

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients, chop the shrimp, mince the garlic, and finely chop the chives.

Cooking the Base

  • In a skillet, heat the unsalted butter over medium heat, add minced garlic, and sauté for about 30 seconds.
  • Add the chopped shrimp, season with salt and pepper, and cook until shrimp turns opaque and pink, about 2-3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Mixing the Filling

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and mayonnaise, then incorporate the cooked shrimp, shredded cheese, and chopped chives. Stir until well combined.

Preparing the Croissants

  • Using a sharp knife, carefully slice each croissant lengthwise to create a pocket.

Stuffing the Croissants

  • Evenly distribute the shrimp filling among the prepared croissants, stuffing each pocket generously.

Egg Wash (Optional)

  • Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the stuffed croissants for a golden finish.

Baking

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and place the croissants on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until the cheese is melted and the croissants are golden brown.

Serving

  • Remove from oven, garnish with additional chives or parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days. For longer storage, freeze wrapped croissants for up to two months. Reheat in a preheated oven.
