Preparation

  • Gather all the ingredients listed above, making sure to soften the cream cheese and butter.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and unsalted butter. Beat them together on medium speed until smooth and creamy.
  • Gradually incorporate the powdered sugar, mixing well after each addition until fully blended.
  • In a separate bowl, mash the fresh blueberries with a fork, releasing their juice while keeping some texture.
  • Add the mashed blueberries and vanilla extract to the cream cheese mixture and mix until evenly distributed.
  • Add milk one tablespoon at a time if needed to adjust the frosting consistency.
  • Taste the frosting and adjust sweetness or add more vanilla extract if desired.
  • Frost your desserts using a spatula or piping bag.
  • Optionally, top with whole blueberries or a sprinkle of lemon zest for decoration.

Notes

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe container for up to three months. Thaw in the refrigerator before use.
