  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 large egg yolk

Chocolate Chips

  • 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Gather all your tools: mixing bowls, measuring cups and spoons, a whisk, a spatula, and parchment paper.

Mixing Dry Ingredients

  • In a medium bowl, combine all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.

Mixing Wet Ingredients

  • In a large bowl, mix melted unsalted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth and creamy.

Combining Ingredients

  • Stir in vanilla extract, followed by beating in the egg and egg yolk until glossy.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until combined.
  • Fold in chocolate chips evenly throughout the dough.

Baking

  • Drop rounded balls of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving 2 inches of space between each.
  • Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are golden and the centers are slightly soft.
  • Let the cookies cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For thicker cookies, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. Experiment with different types of chocolate chips for unique flavors.
