Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients. Slice the bananas into even pieces to ensure they cook uniformly.
  • Measure out the sugar, butter, vanilla extract, and cereal.

Cooking the Bananas Foster

  • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until fully melted and bubbling.
  • Add the brown sugar to the skillet. Stir continuously until the sugar is completely dissolved and the mixture starts to bubble.
  • Carefully add the sliced bananas into the skillet. Cook for 1-2 minutes until they start to caramelize and are nicely coated in the sauce.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract and banana liqueur if using.
