Cinnamon Maple Glaze

Instructions
 

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease the doughnut pan.
  • In a saucepan, pour in your apple cider and bring it to a boil. Reduce heat and let it simmer until it thickens and reduces to about 1/4 cup. Allow it to cool.

Mix Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk together the eggs, melted butter, buttermilk, vanilla extract, and cooled apple cider.
  • Carefully fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.

Bake Doughnuts

  • Spoon the batter into the greased doughnut pan, filling each cavity about three-quarters full.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting a toothpick; if it comes out clean, they’re done.

Make Glaze

  • While the doughnuts cool, mix together the powdered sugar and maple syrup in a small bowl until smooth.

Finish and Serve

  • Once the doughnuts have cooled slightly, dip the tops into the glaze and let any excess drip off.

Notes

Store leftover doughnuts in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days. To freeze, use a resealable freezer bag after they are fully cooled.
