Equipment

  • Pie Dish (9″)
  • Mixing bowls
  • Saucepan

Ingrédients

Pie Crust

  • 2 pie crusts (9″), store-bought or homemade one for bottom, one for top

Apple Filling

  • 6 apples, peeled and sliced Granny Smith or similar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Pudding Layer

  • 3.25 oz vanilla or chocolate instant pudding mix (dry)
  • 1 cup milk for pudding

Optional Streusel

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour for topping
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter, cold and diced for streusel

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Place one pie crust in a 9″ pie dish and set aside.
  • In a bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, sugar, and cinnamon until evenly coated.
  • Prepare the pudding according to package instructions using the milk, then let it cool slightly.
  • Spread the apple mixture evenly over the bottom pie crust, then pour or spread the pudding layer over the apples.
  • Optionally, mix flour, brown sugar, and cold diced butter with your fingers to make a streusel topping and sprinkle over the pudding layer.
  • Cover with the second pie crust and crimp the edges to seal. Cut a few slits in the top crust for steam to escape.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 45–50 minutes, until the crust is golden and the filling is set. Let cool before serving.

Notes

This apple pie variation adds a creamy pudding layer between the apples for extra texture and richness — a comforting twist on classic apple pie. Pudding mix helps thicken and sweeten the filling. :contentReference[oaicite:1]{index=1}
