  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Preparation

  • Gather all your ingredients. Cube the bread into bite-sized pieces and set aside. Dice your apples and measure out the other ingredients.

Mixing

  • In a large bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, and salt until fully combined. Ensure there are no clumps of sugar.
  • Add the cubed bread to the milk mixture, followed by the diced apples. Stir gently to coat all the bread.

Baking

  • Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and spread it out evenly.
  • Drizzle the maple syrup over the top.
  • Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 45-50 minutes, until the top is golden brown.

Serving

  • Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving. Slice and serve warm, optionally adding powdered sugar or whipped cream.

Notes

For variations, you can add nuts, chocolate chips, or different fruits. Ensure to use stale bread for the best texture.
